Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought

As you would think that you couldn't not add anymore weapons on to a dreadnought our friends over at Forge World released the new Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought. And from the looks of it this unit is armed to the hilt with some heavy hitting firepower.

The Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought has a sarcophagus-mounted heavy bolters or heavy flamers, this also will rock the twin-linked Anvilus Autocannon Battery. The Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought also can take the Aiolos Missile Launcher and that is crazy overboard with weapons.

So what we know about the Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought is that its rules are experimental and are available for PDF download. Basic stats makes this dreadnought a beast to go up against but you are going to pay for it at 185 points. He gets a 5++ to shooting and explosion attacks and a 6++ to hand-to-hand combat attacks.

Weapon wise the Aiolos Missile Launcher gives the unit the ability to target a flyer if they remain stationary and with the targeting system they can target that flyer and another unit without penalty. The Anvilus Autocannon Battery gives a great heavy 4 shot with re-rolls to armor penetration rolls.

The Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought is on pre-order and the rules are still experimental so this is a hard sell to most players but if we look at the model itself it is an awesome sculpt and would be well worth buying just to assemble and paint.

  2. I personally play GK and they were nice and they gave you a reason to take a dreadnought. Normal 40k dreads are not worth taking but 40k approved Forge World ones are.

  3. It's too many points for what it does. The missile launcher costs you an additional 35 points. So now you're up to 220 points which is rapidly approaching land raider area. You can't rely on it to really blow vehicles up because of the lack of ap 2 and 1. 4 strength 8 shots is nice and all but not at 185 points when all marines are getting a saving throw except for scouts and you won't be blowing up vehicles either. Granted sunder is nice but I would rather it had the ability to ignore jink saves like the sicaran battle tank. That would really make it worth taking if you know you're playing certain lists. As is I don't really know what it's job is supposed to be.
